TEST - Vintage Fender USA Standard Stratocaster 1983 Hardtail

£895.00

This is an early example of the highly controversial 2 knob Stratocaster, complete with its final days of CBS era Decal.

Often mislabeled as a Dan Smith guitar, this style of standard Stratocaster ran for a few years in the early to mid 1980s.

This one is a hard tail so the problematic freeflyte bridge is not an issue here.

They marked an era of non traditional standard Stratocaster features these included:

-No rear cavity

-Die Cast tuners

-12” radius Fretboard

-Pickguard mounted input jack

-Top loaded bridge

-Bi Flex truss rod

-Micro Tilt adjustment

However many of these non-traditional features have been adopted by the Fender Ultra series most notably the much flatter fretboard which is more a feature you’d find on a Gibson.

Thus these 2 Knob Stratocasters offer a great opportunity to have a guitar with higher end options for a much lower price.

Plus the guitar has some vintage vibe to it as well, offering a piece of US Fullerton factory history for new Mexican and Japanese fender prices.

They make a great platform for modding compared to other vintage fenders, as you're not chopping up a £3,000+ instrument.

Or keep it stock and it should, fingers crossed raise in value along with inflation as we are seeing with the late 70s fenders.

This one is a maple neck and fretboard with I believe an alder body, in a classic black poly gloss finish.

Although personally I prefer the sienna sunburst, black is my next favourite.

This one comes with an aftermarket case, and is set up with a set of 9s.

The guitar has a few marks and scuffs, but is generally in good condition for a guitar over 40 years old.

There is a dark mark in the wood grain on the neck but it is below the finish and not a dent.

The Weight is 3.3kg 7.3 lbs

Frets in good Condition

All questions welcome.
